I
am a professor in the Department of
Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. My research is
in number theory, arithmetic geometry, and algebraic geometry. I earned
my Ph.D. from
Brown
University where I studied
under Joseph H. Silverman. Before coming to UNLV, I worked as a Bing
Instructor at the University of Texas at Austin
(1991 -- 1994), and as an assistant professor at the University
of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada
(1994 -- 1997).
I am the author of a book on geometry titled A Survey of Classical and Modern Geometries. I
have also been involved with various mathematical
contests. I was the leader for the Canadian IMO team in 2002, the
deputy leader in 1999, and a leader observer in 1998. Locally, I have
helped to run the UNLV Prize Mathematics Contest, and to make sure our
University competes in the Putnam competition.
